The holidays are a time for family, but they’re also a time for great food. After a huge Thanksgiving dinner, there’s still plenty more to come. First come the leftovers. Then come the December holiday treats. My mom spends much of the month baking Christmas cookies — which, of course, she always gives me when I stop by. All those calories add up, so today we’ll point you towards an app that helps you monitor your calorie intake and your exercise levels. That way, you can keep the weight off between the holidays. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel less guilty as I house a fully stuffed plate in front of me.
Counting calories is pretty easy. Just create a spreadsheet and log everything you eat. It sounds tough, but once you get into the groove it’s automatic. As such, I don’t like recommending a premium app for this. If you can make it in Excel and send it to Docs To Go, it makes little sense to spend money on it. That’s why I’d recommend Brio Calorie Tracker. It’s a free app that tracks your caloric input. Just enter the food and the calorie count, and it will keep it stored. It graphs it for you, too, letting you know your exact intake over the past month.
You can get Brio Calorie Tracker for free at the BBGeeks Store.
Exercising also keeps off the pounds. Earlier this month we discussed the Gym Technik NextGen app. It’s a comprehensive fitness tracking application for your BlackBerry. You can get it with a premium subscription, but there is a free 30-day trial of the service. That gives you enough time to check it out before the new year to see if it is going to fit into your workouts. Check it out now at http://www.gymtechnik.com/blackberry/.
